Traffic Management Plan For Improving Road Safety And Traffic Flow

With recent technological and industrial advancement we have entered an era when there is a growing need to manage processes effectively. The number of vehicles on the roads has increased substantially as more and more people need to travel every day. In such times what we need is a Traffic Management Plan to control the traffic flow through roads.

Traffic Management Plan

A Traffic Management Plan is a plan which is site specific and includes the design, implementation and maintenance of the traffic management temporarily when activity or work is done on the corridors of the road. Road corridors include road footpath or berm. A Traffic Management Plan details how road users like cyclists and pedestrians are directed around a work site, accident and other temporary road disruption for minimizing inconvenience. It aims to provide safe conditions for both the road users and those carrying out activity.

A Traffic Management Plan will need to be submitted for an activity that varies the normal operating conditions of any part of a road corridor unless there is an emergency. If a certain kind of work prevents normal use of vehicle driving or parking lane and normal pedestrian access along a footpath then a Traffic Management Plan is required. All Corridor Access Requests are accompanied by a Traffic Management Plan.  Sometimes a Traffic Management Plan is required for activities done on private property when vehicle access is required for a longer duration of time e.g. at a building site.

Thus we see that a Traffic Management Plan is required in certain situations to control the flow of traffic. With an effective Traffic Management Plan road safety increases drastically which is a welcome benefit. We need to work together and follow traffic rules so as to make travelling easier and safe.
